Resettlement Corps and Language Corps support the success of immigrants, refugees, and English Language Learners in Minnesota.
Since 2021, Minnesota welcomed more than 1,200 Afghan families and is currently welcoming families from Ukraine and other countries around the world. As part of Resettlement Corps, AmeriCorps members support families who are new to the U.S. as they join their new communities and work to achieve housing, employment and education goals.
In Minnesota, English Learners are less likely to graduate high school in four years. Language Corps is a program that trains AmeriCorps members to help multilingual students strengthen their English reading and writing skills, creating stronger students. Our tutors mentor middle school students and provide support in and out of the classroom to help them understand lessons, navigate assignments and build their confidence.
